BRASHEARS (Paulville)--Twelve miles east of Kirksville, on the Q., M. & P. R. R., laid out in 1872 by Richard Brashears,
in honor of whom it is named, contains about 6 stores, a saw and grist mill, a grain warehouse, hay press, school house
and church--United Brethren. It is about 2 miles south east of the old site of Paulville, which has principally
been moved to Brashears. It is the heaviest shipping point in the county except Kirksville. Population about 200.
